EDGAR

Global Emissions EDGAR v4.2 (November 2011)

In EDGARv4.2 emissions are calculated for (1) direct greenhouse gases, (2) ozone precursor gases and (3) acidifying gases. For each group an overview table presents the status of data available for download.
Major differences between v4.2 and the earlier EDGAR dataset v4.1 consist in (a) an update of the emissions database of greenhouse gases and the traditional air pollutants, (More info: Main differences between EDGAR version 4.2 and 4.1) and (b) an extension of the time series till 2008.

The EDGARv4.2 emissions are calculated based on the energy balance statistics of IEA (2010) (Internet: http://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/energy/co2-emissions-from-fuel-combustion-2010_9789264096134-en)

Timeseries 1970-2008

For each substance, emissions timeseries (1970-2008) by sector and country are provided in an overview table (.xls).

Notes:
Emission country totals are expressed in kton substance / year.
The IPCC 1996 code is used for specification of the sectors.

 

 

Annual gridmaps 1970-2008

For each substance annual gridmaps (1970-2008) are provided.

Notes:
Emission gridmaps are expressed in ton substance / 0.1degree x 0.1degree / year for the .txt files and in kg substance /m2 /s for the .nc files. Solely for NOx and SOx the unit in the .nc files are kg N /m2 /s respectively kg S /m2 /s.

For each sector annual gridmaps (1970-2008) are provided for all substances.

Notes:
Emission gridmaps are expressed in ton substance / 0.1degree x 0.1degree / year for annual .txt files and in kg substance /m2 /s for all the .nc files. Solely for NOx and SOx the unit in the .nc files are kg N /m2 /s respectively kg S /m2 /s.
